My goal is to update to Lightroom 6.14 standalone version and update my operating system to high sierra. 
Is it best to update to LR6, then high sierra, and finally update to LR 6.14, or update to high sierra first, then LR6? I’m not sure if LR 6 will automatically load the most recent update, 6.14, or if I have to perform the update once installed. I tried to sync the library of this drive in LR Classic CC and it would only sync about 120 out of 70,000 files. I canceled and restarted the sync a couple of times and each time it would only sync a few more files. I tried synchronizing a couple of individual folders and got a notice saying there are no files in the folder, yet I have no problem opening them in finder. I am curious if this is a High Sierra / LR issue or some other issue. I recently tried to format a new WD 4tb drive and was unable and that seems to be a High Sierra issue with the size of the partition. Would this possibly be a related issue? Hi Liz, it sounds like more than one problem is happening here. Both are somewhat related to the age of the software. One thing you mentioned was that nothing happens when you double-click the Setup file. That might be the problem I mentioned above in “ ‘Installer Failed to Initialize‘ error, or installer failing to run,” so you might try the workaround mentioned there. But from your description, the main problem may be ultimately about the licensing error you saw. If CS3 software is installed from its original media, it won’t be able to reach the licensing server because Adobe retired it. To get CS3 software to activate its license, you must download replacement CS3 installers from Adobe; it’s no change if you have your CS3 serial number.
Also when changing body text from, say, regular to bold or italic the selector on the control panel freezes and you have to type in ‘italic’ to activate the change. Also on a layout all the text can disappear when zooming in or out. I would say that the Mac and software are now running a little slower than before. Never had these problems before installing OS Sierra and have no idea in how to rectify them. Since I installed CS6 from its original discs, I’ve had no problems until El Capitan and Sierra.
Bill, it’s inconsequential now because what I did was to downgrade to macOS 10.13 (which I thought was not possible) after the Supplemental Update was issued. After the installation and after applying the Supplemental Update, the cursor bug was gone. When the second beta of 10.13.1 came out, I installed it and the bug never resurfaced. In any case, when it was still happening, the cursor problem would show up after an hour or longer of running InDesign. 90% of my design work is done in InDesign and my deadlines can get very tight. In fact I just had to do an all-nighter to finish a couple of projects. A save-quit-relaunch of ID is not a problem because it takes only seconds to do.

As a small designer operating in the lower market segment, I can impossibly afford a new 3000$ machine every 5-6 years. Such an investment is calculated for at least 10 years.
And keep in mind that this different from when Apple removed podcasting management from iTunes. There are a host of third-party apps that do podcasting better than Apple’s apps, so that was no loss. I simply adopted Overcast and came to love it. There aren’t third-party apps for managing apps on iOS devices.

Not the nicest solution but certainly a workable one for the small designer. I know how I will miss BBedit on the Windows side but hell, at least my design setup works and for FTP, of course, no more Transmit but then again, Filezilla works on both OSes.
