You can start creating a document by using a template, or you can apply themes and, if you're in Word, you can apply styles. Template Templates are files that help you design interesting, compelling, and professional-looking documents. They contain content and design elements that you can use as a starting point when creating a document. All the formatting is complete; you add what you want to them. Examples are resumes, invitations, and newsletters.
One task might be particularly well suited to MacWord 2011 because Publishing Layout View—a feature only in that one Word version—will make this task easy. I've gone back to Office for Mac 2011 and prefer it by far to the newer release. Until Microsoft restores all of the features available in the 2011 version I'm staying put. The only exception is Outlook, which in my opinion has been improved for those working with Microsoft Exchange servers in an office environment. I keep waiting for the update that restores the ability to customise the ribbon, for example, but there's no sign of it yet. And as far as I know, MathType doesn't support the newer version either. Perhaps in another 6 months or so we'll be tempted to make the switch, but for anyone hoping to find a Windows equivalent in OS X, the wait will surely be much longer. Since you can install each of the Office 2016 for Mac applications individually, and even run them in parallel with their 2011 counterparts, I suggest you try them both and make your own choice.
Of course, you can still use the cmd shortcuts if you’re used to them. Microsoft is also adding slicers to re-pivot data, printing to PDF, a full formula builder, and autocomplete improvements. PowerPoint picks up an improved presenter view, new slide transitions, and an overview of all animations in a slide deck. The new presenter view allows you to see notes alongside slides, and the additional slide transitions give you more ways to keep your audience awake with crazy animations.

I do miss some of the more advanced features of iWork '09 (but keep THAT around too, LOL) I'm quite impressed with the ease of working on files on the iMac/Macbook and then switching to the iPad. And with splitwindow support in iOS 9, the Air 2 is becoming a viable option.

Together with and, the Apple user can access just about any of these versions/editions on each of their hardware platforms. If you use an Exchange server, you can now propose an alternative time when someone invites you to a meeting, and this new version of Outlook supports the and Online Archive features. Indeed, many of these small but welcome improvements to Outlook have been applied to its Calendar module, including the option of viewing calendars side-by-side, and the inclusion of weather forecasts. Our favourite feature, though, is an option in Preferences to automatically define a different signature for new emails as for replies, something that will help balance 'letting people know your details' with keeping long threads vaguely manageable and bloat-free.

You can stop work on one platform and pick up exactly where you left off on another—I tried it with the Mac, Windows, and iPad versions—and you can easily restore earlier versions of files saved to the cloud.
